Setlist was as follows:

Death Machine
Put On Your Shoes
Sadr City Blues
Cut Your Brakes
Cigarette
Two Sisters

Right at 7pm, FP took the stage. The band looked oddly well-groomed after their video shoot the day prior. Seton had his hair cut short, and Joe seemed to have had some full-body action done to his hair, as it flowed feathery in the subtle breeze. And Pete was, well, Pete…all grins.

Wearing a longsleeve shirt in 90 degree weather, Joe doesn’t seem to notice and announces, “We’re Fiction Plane from England, how are you all doing?” And then they launch into “Death Machine”, and it sounds incredibly tight and a little faster than I’ve heard it in the past. Either the band was nervous about the usually unforgiving Philly crowd, or they were wholly conscious of their short set time. “Death…” bleeds right into “Shoes”…and the crowd is actually bouncing along. It was very surreal and pleasing to see this reaction.

During the show, Joe says little interesting rap-like things, like “I’m loving this East Coast crowd,” and “Before this tour, we were a bunch of quiet Englishmen, but now we are somewhat warped individuals!” At some point, he also uttered the term, “Be-otch!”

Another strange occurrence happened after “Shoes,” when Joe actually announced, “hey Philadelphia, are you ready for some ‘Sadr City Blues’?” Yeah, it was weird, because usually “Shoes” runs right into SCB. After that, he says, “it’s so nice to see that there are few of you out there who actually know our stuff. Well, now here’s something none of you have ever heard before!” and jumps right into “Cut Your Brakes”.

Again, the crowd goes nuts. Still surreal and very cool. During the course of the set, Snoop Dogg’s bassist comes out to the side of the stage and starts jamming out and head-bobbing to FP.

Then the band plays “Cigarette”, and due to the shortened setlist, the breakdown in the middle is shortened, and Joe tells his little tale of infidelity. But this time, rather than go on about who he caught in bed, he said that he was pissed because they were smoking cigarettes, when they should have been smoking weed. Of course, this garners another cheap pop from the audience, who erupt in a unified roar.

Closing the set, as always, is “Two Sisters”, which featured a new breakdown jam in the middle. Seton’s solo, however, was very strong and forceful. All three guys really looked like they enjoyed this performance.

Wow! Great review, great photos. Can't wait to hear 'Cut Your Brakes' live. I envy you being at this gig. I don't know why, this one just really appealed. Would have loved to have seen and heard Seton's 'Two Sisters' solo. I'm seriously missing the guys today, so thanks for making me feel a part of it. Good to know that Snoop's bassist knows a good band when he sees one!

Same here Bee... would LOVE to hear that Sete's solo in Two Sisters. Maybe someone could record it at one of US shows..??
Or do we really have to wait till they come back to Europe? (december is sooooo far... :( )

Great review and pictures! Thanks for sharing.
Glad to hear guys are having fun and enjoying the shows... :D

Thanks for the great review Michelle!
I've seen the bass player from Snoop rocking to FP at several shows! He's really into their music!

Cool to know there was another FP person there to represent! I was over at the barricade on Seton's side, my few pics are here:

It was a great albeit short set. Glad I went! Now I just want another full set show from the guys like last December at the Khyber...

I'd really like to reiterate how much I miss this tour. I think it was a fabulous mix of artists, and FP and Snoop gelled really well together as rocking, funky performances.

I hope they do more tours like this one in the future.

I heard Jay-Z is performing with a live band now, so maybe that would be something to get on board with...okay, yeah, I'm stretching a bit.

Let's just pray for FP doesn't let the US drought last too long.
