One of the most popular Dutch radio stations, 3fm has an annual event called 'Serious Request' in the week before Xmas. In this week, 3 DJ's will be in an glass house in a Dutch town, taking shifts in making the radio shows, and not eating. This all is done for the purpose of getting attention for a silent catastrophe somewhere in the world.
You can make donations in turn for a song played on the radio. This year, the donations will be given to the Red Cross, for their help of the 36 million refugees worldwide.
This event is pretty huge, and gets a lot of attention. You can make a donation by phone, or you can come to the glass house to deliver your donation to the DJ's in person. The more money you bring, the bigger the chance that they will let you talk about what song you want and why you want that particular band on the radio.
I have planned to go to the glass house myself this year, to bring donations in return for 'It's a Lie', and hoping for some air time on the radio to talk about Fiction Plane.
I have talked to Daniel, Fp's tour manager in Europe, and he agreed in this plan: we will have a box at the merchandise stand at the Paradiso gig Dec. 7th, for people to make donations. Joe will talk about the charity during the gig to let everyone who is attending know about the donations. I will collect the box after the gig, and hope that there will be quite some money in it!
So if you are going to the Paradiso show, please make a donation for the Red Cross, in return for It's a Lie being played on Dutch radio. You can make your donation using the box at the merchandise stand, or give it to me in person. Of course every single cent will go to the Red Cross!
If you are not going to the Paradiso gig but want to make a donation anyway, please let me know and we can work something out!
