Ok, I haven't done much French since college but here is what I got (sorry if I got it wrong)
"A great young man with long blond hair came into the Mona FM studios Monday before his concerts in Marseilles, Montpelier, Paris , Lillie and Amsterdam where he will be performing in small clubs. He obligingly responded to questions in French, a language he practices with the crackling accent of a subject of Her Gracious Majesty. Signing his second album with his group Fiction Plane, he remembers his musical inspiration being Nirvana, especially the singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain. After taking up the guitar, he took up the base (like his father) after Dan Brown left the group in 2006 (he had a child) Joe says, "What is important are the people that are in the room, not the size of the room we play."
Joe says he accepted the offer of opening for the Police on their American tour "after a little hesitation". Joe goes on to say that he prefers to play in small rooms, the street, the metro (I think I totally got this sentence wrong, but if you see Joe roaming around the streets of Paris with a guitar in his hand give him a euro for me. But on with the interview) Nevertheless he is satisfied with this mini European tour. If his father isn't evoked, the reporter can't resist the pleasure of comparing both Joe and Sting's voices. Joe's in "It's A Lie" from Fiction Plane's second album and Sting's "Roxanne". Joe responds, "This crazy voice comes from the same family." When asked what else he shares with his family Joe said, "A hatred of boring things." Joe Sumner plays with Seton Daunt and Pete Wilhoit."
Ok, so that's what I got. It took waaayyy too long but now I know that Joe hates boring things and the French word for "crackle" so I'll call this an unmitigated personal triumph.
