FictionPlane.net has just posted a brand new interview with all three members of the band. It is rather extensive and has a lot of interesting information in it. Check it out here.

Wow, that took a little bit of time to get through. That might just be the longest FP interview I've ever seen.

What a great interview! I really hope the guys aren't giving up on us Americans. It seems like no matter what we do the guys just can't get a break.
I'm still in such shock at how great the Unity tour was. After seeing that first Snoop gig at UNH last year I was seriously worried for FP. Joe looked utterly scared when the concert was over! Seton just sat back with a smile and seemed to really enjoy it. Who would've thunk the guys would have so much fun and get along better with the Snoop crew!?!
Superfans, huh? I like to have the rarities...if they're worth it. Like Seton said, overexposure is not a good thing.
Glad to hear Brakes and Sadr are still in the running for the album. I can't wait to hear some new stuff. I'd be open to a bit of Fiction Funk! How cool would that be?

Very nice interview! This Mark dude has real talent. I must say, I'm a little disturbed by the "superfan" comment. I don't think just because you want to hear everything FP recorded makes you a superfan. I think there are far worse and less flattering things you could do that could garner you that title. I'm also more than a bit bummed about FPs view on America. Makes me glad I did seize the opportunity to see them as much as I did. I'd also like to think that when they said they would like to "regionally" develop a fan base, they were talking about in the US as well. Some of the US cities already love them... Cincy, OCMD, Dallas to name a few. Hopefully they will at least still play one-off shows in those areas until they can tackle the US as a whole. It was very interesting to read Pete's perspective on the band post baby. Sounds like it really makes him appreciate it all the more, which is a good thing I think. I love the pic of Pete too! It's weird too that Seton and Joe are so subdued looking and Pete banging away like there is no tomorrow!

Well, I gotta say that interview was bittersweet for me!
It's logical for the guys to spend their touring lives in Europe. I get it, but we here in the states feel a bit bummed.
I too cherish (I know cheesy word but...) the Snoop Tour, not only because of the sheer fun of it but the fans I met that were super cool! (And I don't mean the ones stoned either!) I kind of miss those carefree days!
As for the "superfan" I don't know...I think those that want to collect rare songs/B-sides/demo tracks...are doing that not only because they love the band but because are into the techniques aspects of music and how it changes...like the student of music type fan.
I have seen the other type of "superfan" and that type doesn't invest as much care as to the music as much as something else.
(Sorry I haven't been posting as much but work has been killer these past few weeks..I have to catch up!) Liz

I agree about the bittersweet thing, Liz. The first time I read it, I felt exactly the same way. I have no desire to travel (or the money to be honest) to the EU to see them, especially after things I heard about the Dec dates. I understand the logic too, but it's still depressing if you live on this side of the pond. I'm going to cling to the hope that they will not completely abandon the US but will concentrate on areas that they know they already have fans, instead of touring the whole country.
Let's hope that the upcoming NYC gig will show them the support they already have here in the states and make them realize what they are abandoning if they concentrate solely on the EU.

I think what we really need to be taking from this is not the negative aspect of "leaving the US". I think what they are doing is pretty intelligent for right now. Granted, it does suck that unless they get some SERIOUS backing in America that there won't be any big tours on the immediate horizon. But at least they are working on a strategy to make things work.
We see it time and time again how hard it is for ANY band without a hit single to make it stateside, and it is unfortunate that FP falls into this same category. It is pretty obvious they had the wrong organizations behind them in the US in the past, and it looks as if it is going to take a lot of coaxing and effort to help them make an impact here. I think this is where we really need to go all out and spread the word as much as we can, use any influence we have anywhere, and just get them into people's heads. It's the little things that eventually go a long way.
It seems as though they are focusing on Europe right now, because financially, more Europeans in concentrated areas respond favorably to them than in the massive rock called the USA. I guess those regions in the EU "got" them a lot quicker than the metropolises in America.
I am just thankful that they aren't taking the route of many other bands that completely ignore the US.

I'm all about traveling to EU to see the guys. If it gives me an excuse to take a vacation and explore another country...I'm all about it!
I do hope the NYC show is jam packed full of FP fans and the guys realize how much we love the music!
