For Immediate Release:
FICTION PLANE Offers Post-New York Impressions and a Glimpse of the Future
Hot off of playing to a packed house at Arlene’s Grocery in New York City last Friday, the members of Fiction Plane are still buzzing!
Drummer Pete Wilhoit expresses his excitement, “Such a cool way to debut new songs - in NYC in front of die-hard fans and friends at a great local venue. It sounded like people loved it. I know we did!”
The fans concur. One enthusiastic fan says, “Oh my God, the show was sooo good!” Another emotes, “I was so glad I decided to come! That show did not disappoint! The new songs were great!”
The band played a nine-song set featuring five brand new songs and four Fiction Plane classics. The new material, which is still in its demo phase, already runs the gamut of emotions, as well as Fiction Plane’s patented genre-bending skills. Wilhoit says, “I'm looking forward to this album. It's got a real disco-Radiohead-Rage-Eels-thing going on so far."
Guitarist Seton Daunt also expresses his appreciation to the reception of the material, “It was great to see people moving to the new songs. I can't wait to get into the studio and record them!"
And ever the enigmatic front man, bassist/vocalist Joe Sumner displays his gratitude in a matter in which only he can articulate. “Ah, the pleasure of releasing our embryonic tunes into the wild and have them flourish in a nutrient rich swamp of singularly open-minded listeners is such that I felt the need to go home with a belly full of beer and crank out a bunch more. So it shall transpire that these fresh blossoms will beget fresher seeds and engender a new era of loopy-juice based creativity that sashays to and fro between the twin sentinels of noise-maker and listener.”
As previously reported, Fiction Plane is writing and recording their next studio album, which is slated for release later in the year. In the meantime, the band’s first-ever live DVD/CD PARADISO will be released on March 23.
The band is already booking summer festival appearances, with the following dates already confirmed:
July 11 - Festival des Terres Blanches in Guérande, FRANCE
July 16 - Les Vielles Charrues Festival in Carhaix, FRANCE
A promotional video exhibiting the band’s energetic stage show is currently available on YouTube.
Regarding the band’s directing its attention towards European markets; Sumner assures its American fans that they will not be forgotten. “We're not quitting on you guys, but we need to be more focused. We'll be where the fan-base is currently cultivated, i.e. New York, Los Angeles, Cincinnati, various points in Pennsylvania, etc., until we can get more stuff going nationwide. Have faith, yo!"
