Let's play a game: Imagine Pete calls you --in my game Pete has your phone number and you two BFFs-- in a panic. They can't decide on either a name for the new album or a track listing you'll really help them out if you supply cover art too --but I can't as I draw like a no-thumbed blind woman. So what do you do? Out of the songs that haven't been recorded yet (Sadr, Boots, etc) and the ones that have been (Presuppose, Listen to My Babe) but you'd like a different version of (ie, rocked out, accoustic, drum solo, stuff like that) make an eight song track list, an album name and cover art. I know we have some crafty people around here, so go ahead and show off! Fun!

I would make the CD scratch and sniff and it would smell like grape.
I'll have to think about the track listings.

Okay, I'm gonna take a cat-stabbin-it. Here's my toasty tracklisting: 1. Something new and catchy that properly chimes in that this is a new album with a fresh attitude 2. "Telephone Unknown" 3. A Fictionized version of "Low Standard of Living" 4. "Humanoid" 5. A funkified version of "Cut the Brake" 6. "Zero" 7. A more progressive version of "Sadr City Blues" (maybe draw it out to about 8 minutes) 8. cover version of FAITH NO MORE's "Ricochet" and two or three others that we haven't heard yet Bonus tracks: "Anyone (acoustic)" "Better Guy" Ghost track: super-jam a la "Bongo" or "Put On Your Shoes" And here's some cover art to chew on:

Nice Smithy! Love the cover art. Hey, maybe we can vote for the winner and send the faux-album to the band as inspiration (not that need any). I think I'll have to brush up on my photoshop for this one.

Nice Smithy! Love the cover art. Well, I wanted to keep the 'bird' incorporated in some way. Hey, maybe we can vote for the winner and send the faux-album to the band as inspiration (not that need any). That would actually be a cool idea. Not for the gratification, mind you, but for the notion that the guys could see that they are getting support when they aren't even active.

I'm still working on mine. I'm not very good at photoshop. In fact I am very very bad at photoshop. Very.

Guys, this is hilarious (in a very good, creative way)! A few months ago, I had written on computer a sketch of detailed notes for a wish list for the next F.P. LP. My idea is (If I had a magic wand, and my bro Pete is desperate for ideas -- I wish...good thing that they're overflowing with notions) for the Fiction Plane release of 2010 (who's not anxious now? A Winter/early Spring release would ROCK!) to be a double CD (Joe's original idea for LSOTB was to be just that) that represented all manner of styles for this quality group: Hard Rock, Disco/Disco Rock, Metal, New Wave, Punk, Hardcore, Reggae/Reggae Rock, Prog Rock, Alternative, Classic Rock, Retro-1950s Rock, Soft Rock, Country Rock, Country & Western, R&B/Funk, 1980s Pop (w/ '80s keyboards), Pop, Jazz, and an Ambient song w/ spoken lyrics. I like everyone else's ideas for additional songs like "Humanoid", etc. Must Haves :)Somewhere on the album, in any of the above slots, the songs, “Oh No”, “Train” (hello, "Death Machine" reference), and “TV” should be included (From 2001's Swings & Roundabouts -- it's a sin that's not available except on this site, Thank God). I SO want them to record a faithful cover of The Police's 1977 single, "Fall Out"...what better way to tackle the supposed ghost/stigma than to meet it head on and embrace it? Somehow, I think Joe would have none of it, but, who better to cover it, I ask you? I would love them to do a cover of Siouxsie and the Banshees' great album track, 1981's "Into the Light" (from "Ju Ju") and/or 1980's eternal classic, "Christine" (I think Joe could do both great justice). I think Siouxsie & Severin would be proud. An Environmental-themed song. Joe majored in this stuff. Right up his alley. An 11-minute Prog Rock song about Gothic literary themes from Lovecraft, or Robert E. Howard, or Poe, or Hawthorne. I can just picture Joe, Seton, and Pete running w/ that in to greatness. Do I have a title for this gargantuan tome? You bet: FICTION\PLANE – CHIAROSCURO Why "Chiaroscuro"?: Definition - Ital. origin...The balance between darkness & light, brightness & shadow in painting, art, and literature -- and, in this modern case, music. What better classification for their style of music? Cover art? Alex Lake of course! A hodge podge of different shapes, images, ink blots, skulls, a feline image, visages, lakes, amorphous things all in black and white and grey -- and, my God, that beautiful bird imagery. A mosaic a lot like a Jackson Pollack painting. (It's in my head, but my hands can't render most of it on paper -- I'm more of an idea/visionary man.) Pete, Brother, here's an idea...here's a magic wand...let's make some music, Bud. Anthony. P.S. Love the human/bird skeleton artwork. The group should really use that for the cover of one of their future singles. Great job!
