With all the rumors flitting about regarding who will (or should) be included on the soundtrack to the forthcoming sequel to Twilight, entitled New Moon and Eclipse, I wanted to start this thread to officially throw Fiction Plane's hat into the ring for consideration.
What would you all think would be a fitting Fiction Plane song to complement the romantic yet gothy feel of the movie?
I wonder if there is some kind of online petition we could send around to get the band officially entered into consideration. I think just being on the soundtrack would get them immense exposure stateside.
Anyway, I think "Denied" would be a good fit, not only because it's a new song, but because it has a bit of that depressing tone to it that kinda evokes the dark nature of the movie (of course, I'm solely basing this on the tone of Twilight).
Let's have some fun with this thread.
Here are some YouTube links to a selection of FP's newer songs:
Denied
Put on Your Shoes & Beginning of Sadr City Blues
Zero
Contagious
Cut Your Brakes

Interesting idea, would be fantastic exposure for them even to be considered.
Having read these books, I think some of Fiction Plane's songs would be a good fit for the soundtrack, especially if they go the same route as the last soundtrack. Outside of a few massive bands- Muse and Paramore- I remember the majority of the bands selected were virtual alt rock unknowns.
I think Denied would be a good fit- simply because New Moon has major thematic elements based on just that, but could also see Zero being a good fit.
Hmmm, I have to think about this a little more and listen to the youtube clips from Arlene's again to see if there any other songs that would fit.

For an old song, how about 'Wise'?

For an old song, how about 'Wise'? I never thought about the prospect of giving an older track new life. That's actually not a bad idea. However, I think the fallout from that would result in them trying to figure out how how to play a song like that with only three members - because they guys would probably end up having to pop the track into their live sets to help such a campaign. But I do like how you're thinking!

this is a great idea! Twilight is all the buzz around the pacific nw (go figure). I'm sure the soundtrack would do very well around here too. Keep us posted if anyone finds how to get FP on it! btw, we're not old tracks, kittyface, we're classics.

Drink immediately came to mind when I read this. It has that melancholy, pensive feeling that conveys indecision, longing, all those things that Bella is wrestling with throughout this book AND it's a beautiful song that teenage girls will love. If nothing else, it fits Edward's fight against 'the drink' LOL ;D
...don't know whether to drink or stay at home... takes on a whole new meaning in the context of a vampire movie.

How about starting a facebook group to promote it and link it to the other Twilight groups on facebook. Get the teenage girls hyped on it and away we go.

I think a soundtrack song is a great idea but they should write a new song.

I think "Drink" would be an excellent song for a brooding Edward scene!

FP on another soundtrack sounds great to me! I agree...I think Denied would fit perfectly. I'm not a Twilight fan...so I have no clue. But dark, dramatic and vampires would fit with this tune I think.

I'm never helpful during these types of discussions since my tastes vary so much from the mainstream. But I'll throw in my two bits anyway. I really love "Stay" (the unreleased track the band sent to fans a few years ago). My understanding of the 2nd book is (SPOILER ALERT!) that Edward and Bella are apart most of the movie. I love the melancholy of the song and it's lyrics may very well fit into the movie theme: So I’m thinking in the back of my mind That I’m leaving somebody behind And though I think I know I’ve got to move on I don’t want anyone to feel alone It would be easy if I knew what I wanted Oh maybe we could stay here for the summer Forget the future we could always be together Maybe we could hang around forever etc etc (You can download "Stay" if you haven't already at www.fictionplane.moonfruit.com/#/downloads/4514622386 - that's the original site I set up to "share the wealth" when the band was between management.)

Are you ladies psychic? Did you all read my mind?...... I have always longed for 'Wise' and 'Stay' to be reintroduced as these were always favourites of mine and bring back so many cherished early FP memories when I hear them (sigh,) but believe that the guys themselves feel that they have moved on since then. I'm torn in two on this; my head telling me that a track which is to appear on the upcoming FP album would be best (killing two promotional birds with one stone) whilst my heart draws me towards 'Drink' as the strongest contender for this soundtrack. I mean, who could not love this wonderfully, emotionally evocative song. I can barely even think of listening to it without shedding tears! Will continue to ponder on this...... "No drink, no drugs, no cigarettes, no loose women............" Bwwwaaaaa!!! See what I mean??

Oh Bee, we are totally on the same page about this. Drink is THE song for this. It is so perfect in mood, lyrics, and I can totally see this being an Edward song. Come on... DRINK!!!
