Amid the arrival of the new year I took time to reflect upon personal goals achieved during the previous one. The forerunner for me was to join the theatrical company I had always longed to work with, and play leading ladies in Hamlet, The Taming of the Shrew and "The Scottish play." This led me to ponder what achievements everyone else here may be most proud of from 2009. Do tell!! Happy 2010! ;D

That's a great achievement Hermione. Looking forward to seeing you tread the boards again soon babes. The achievement I'm most proud of? It has to be asking Lily to be my wife. She said yes BTW!

As a Foster Carer I helped to rehabilitate two youngsters after spells of severe trauma last year. Both are now on the road to recovery and are promised safer, happier lives in 2010 and beyond. I allow myself to be a little bit proud of that. I also completed an autobiography that I had been working on. Its chapters were drafted over several years but I lacked the inspiration for bringing them together until the summer of 2009. A link that I had overlooked came to me out of the blue and suddenly my personal masterpiece could be completed. I feel a true sense of satisfaction for having finished it at last. I have recently had just ten copies printed and hand-bound, to give to those who feature strongly in my story. Several were given out as Christmas gifts so I nervously await comments from the recipients! Happy 2010 to you too, Hermi!

I opened my first boutique in September, and have organised two fashion shows highlighting the work of new designers. I know I'm a bit of a Barbie for loving clothes so much but despite the recession the business is doing well, so I'm happy with this achievement. Oh and I finally found the courage to ditch an undesirable boyfriend. Everyone thinks that was a good decision! Congrats to everyone else for your achievements!

I envy your skills with a pen almost as much as your ability to nurture such needy kids.

I took up river rafting. It's extremely exhilarating and addictive. I now yearn for some seriously fast white water. Thinking of the US or Peru, maybe doing something sponsored for one of our charities.

In 2009 I finally overcame my fear of deep water and learnt to swim. I don't think I'll volunteer to go rafting with you just yet though Saxman .

La mia amica, you left Oxford with degrees with honours, are fluent speaker in 3 languages, run 2 businesses but call yourself like a Barbie doll? You do yourself such a large injustice!! Siete una bella ragazza intelligente! ;D

Lovely achievements everyone. Well done! I reached my ambition to come to England and experience work in English horticulture. English life too. Also, I learnt to ballroom dance. Such fun! 2009 was very happy for me and I feel positive for 2010 too! ;D
