Finally, after years of anticipation, www.fictionplane.com has officially launched. While there is not yet a lot of content up, there is a music player featuring the new single "Push Me Around," a couple of cool photo galleries, news and tour dates, and some other goodies. Their official forum is not yet activated, but if you enter your email to join the site, you get a free link to the new version of "Sadr City Blues," which is said to be included only on the Special Edition version of the Sparks CD! Dig it!

So I see the official forum has launched after a 4 year wait (the last time they had one was in 2006, right?).
Initial impression is that it is very confusing to navigate and is not very user friendly. I'm really surprised they didn't beta-test it before launching.
Also interesting that whoever set up the forum swiped most of the topic-headers from this forum. Hmmm...

Ya, I'm a bit disappointed with the setup over there. It really is difficult to navigate. Maybe they will take up some of the suggestions and improve it.

Also interesting that whoever set up the forum swiped most of the topic-headers from this forum. Hmmm... Yuh. That early forum has a lot to answer for as it was where many of us here first communicated. I still remember some of those early posts with great fondness, especially some of clevermonikas'! Also some of the avatars. Does anyone still have those pictures? Might see if I can find my original bee and use it again for a spell. They definitely swiped our topic-headers. The first time I saw the new forum I squealed " The cheeky clumps of turf " or something similar! Congrats to those who designed this forum and equally those who have kept it so interestingly and informatively successful in the absence of an official one. Good job! I hope that the new forum gets the serious tweeking it needs to make it more appealing and user friendly. I would like to participate there in order to support the guys but have had trouble even with registering. I know I'm biased but this is the best forum by far.

Aww, thanks Bee. I haven't registered over at the new forum yet, it seems...intimidating. But I'm so excited to have a new FP album (horray, huzzah!) and I'm so happy they have found so much success in The Netherlands. It sort of makes me want to carve wooden shoes and build a windmill, well, not really but you get the idea.
I look so forward to reading everyone's comments and reconnecting with you guys and some awesome music!

I was excited about the new website forum launch, but sadly was almost instantly turned off. Hard to navigate and it seems very very basic with no bells and whistles like this one.
Also i got kind of annoyed with all the attitude.

Also i got kind of annoyed with all the attitude. I was also quite shocked at how elitist it became so quickly. That's what happens without moderators.

I wish it wasn't all about who's the bigger fan. It gets annoying.

Total agreement here. It's a real shame. I so wanted it to be great for the guys' sakes. Who the hell is (or isn't) in charge of this?

I think plaited hair beneath one of those pointy white Dutch hats and a basket of tulips on your arm would be a good look for you at your next FP gig Clevermonika! You see, I also remember how we used to tease each other on the old forum!

I think we are collectively guessing that it is that Willem guy, since he never registered with that forum. Kinda curious that someone who runs two FP fan pages would not join the official page.

I feel bad, but I just don't like that forum setup. I get totally annoyed every time I visit.

I feel bad, but I just don't like that forum setup. I get totally annoyed every time I visit. Yeah, it's seriously difficult to navigate and carry on a conversation. Unfortunately, I think the only way they can fix it is to wipe it clean and start from scratch.
