Just thought I'd share..... I have always been a keen conservationist and for a spell worked at a Visitors Centre in Shropshire with a country park attached. In celebration of Joe's thirtieth birthday and on behalf of the members of the Fiction Plane Harem, I planted an orchard consisiting of thirty fruit trees; a mix of local varieties of apple and pear. The trees have flourished and enhance ancient flower meadows. They increase in size, flower and fruit every year. I took these photos of our orchard today. The FPH can also lay claim to thirty trees planted within a Costa Rican rainforest. These are part of a forest corridor which is helping to increase the diversity of the area. I wonder if other bands have similarly carbon neutral fans? Apple trees on raised ground behind the visitors centre An orchard bench - the perfect place to chill and listen to FP Close-up of the apple section The pear area

Lovely pics harembee. I'm definitely gonna sit on that bench among Joe's trees next time I visit you. What a beautiful spot. Does anyone collect the fruits? I'd love to taste some! Does Joe know about his orchard and forest?

I picked some of the fruit with the kids from a local school last year and made them into apple sauce and fruit pies. The remainder were left for visitors to the centre and birds to enjoy. Will let you know when the trees fruit this year so you can pick some. Yes, Joe does know about his trees. I told him about them when they were planted, just before his birthday. I think he was more excited about the p;ersonalised Newcastle United shirt I gave him though!

Haha, that sounds like Joe! Also, we planted other trees in this visitors garden last year. Are they thriving too?

All the trees planted in and around that circular wooden fence were planted by environmentally aware FP fans? That's totally cool. What types of tree are they? Do they have to be watered and trimmed? Which one of those two chaps is Jez?

We have planted a selection of English natives: Ash, Willow Oak, Birch, Beech, Elm and Hazel. They need very little attention, just the odd check over for any signs of disease. They stand in an ancient water meadow and so have not yet needed watering. If a serious drought were to occur we could pump water to them directly from the River Onny which is just yards away. They may need pollarding when they mature. Charlie is the one with the cute backside...... and the waggily tail!!!!!!! ;D

Please allow me to answer this as Bee is away on holiday. I am growing trees from cuttings I took last year ready for future planting. Autumn will be the best time Hermi. I will arrange a date convenient to us all.
