Hi all,
Just saw the latest tweet of Joe on twitter. He posted a video of FP recording their third album. Have a look at it:
At 3:07 you can hear some drums and I think it sounds like Cut Your Brakes. I'm not sure. What do you guys think? Should they put this song on their new album. It's already released on Paradiso (great performance of the song btw). Can a studio version exceed the level of Paradiso?

On April 6, these were their Tweets: - brakes intact......strings broken..... WTF?
- Wanted: High tensile Lineman's pliers. Will pay cash on proof of accident.
- Wanted: High torque wire clippers to send your car hurtling uncontrollably down the hill.
- Wanted: Extremely sharp and powerful pliers to cut your brakes.
Truly sounds like they are recording it. However, I am reserving judgment on how it will sound in the studio. There is something less organic about certain FP songs in the studio setting that don't really exhale until you hear/see them live. We shall see.

I think it does sound like "Brakes"! Good ears!
Yeah, I'm guessing from the tweets that they are at least recording it. I hope it does make the album, but I wouldn't be to upset if it didn't since we have the Paradiso version.

Oh, and I agree with smithwicks... I don't think a studio version coud top the live version.

Since I really only heard "CTB" live, it'll be weird hearing it all polished and wrapped up in a pretty bow. I like the raw live stuff best! We'll see...at least we'll get the proper lyrics if its in the new album....how about a B-side? Liz

This question got me pondering if I like studio versions of any FP song better than the live versions I've heard. I'm hard pressed to think of even one. The new acoustic version of Anyone may be the only one I can come up with. Weird.

You certainly can't beat the sheer excitement of hearing FP live at a big gig, but I have to admit that I enjoy Joe's voice best at small accoustic gigs or on albums. I just like to hear his vocals softer and more defined. Gorgeous! I too hope to hear CTB on the new album. ;D

Sounded like from a recent tweet that they were working on it again in the studio. Sounds very promising. I wonder when they'll decide what songs make it on the album? Is that the mysterious "moment of truth almost being upon them" they tweeted about this week?

Cut Your Brakes is a great song. I hope it's on the album track list too!

Tch - I feel like such a doofus - I was wondering what all those d**ned tweets were about! Never occurred to me........now that you listed them it's so obvious!! DURRRR. I really hope they include it as I want to hear the verses they decided on! I have about four different versions of it - and the Paradiso one is not the best for lyrics, Joe just repeats the verses. So yes please and well sleuthed indeed!

Now the real question is, if they do include it on the new album, will Joe finally stick to one version of the song? ;D
Since the album is now mixed, I wonder if/when the track listing will be leaked? I guess anyone going to the shows over the summer will get a sneak preview of the new music--- all I can hope for is lots and lots of boots!

Definitely want "Brakes" on the new album. Along w/ "Lullaby", "Put Your Shoes On", "At Ease", and so many of the songs already previewed here. I really hope they make a double album, since there's so much out there to grace this album. I wish they'd made a poll and asked what songs we would like the most to have on the album. Would've rocked. I can only assume (and hope) that they know what's best for all of us. I want a diverse album. I love their studio and their live sound. I guess I prefer the studio sound, because you can do so much more than live, yet their studio sound on LSOTB sounded very "live" to me -- and that's what I loved about it.

They've said they've written enough to make a double album, but I don't think it makes much financial sense for them to make one, unless they had the label backing to really push the hell out of it. As for "At Ease", I don't think that will ever happen. I read somewhere that the tracks they gave to XIII Bis for the French Tour Edition were throwaway songs that they had no plans on doing anything with otherwise. However, it is quite awesome to see your enthusiasm. Will you be coming to the NYC show next week?
