I was just watching the BBC's 'Room 101' TV show and wondered what everyone here would banish to this room for ever and why?  My choices include....... *Electric cables. I have a real loathing for these and cannot wait until everything is wireless. I waste much of my life untangling the darn things (how on earth do they get so muddled?) and frequently slice through them whilst mowing my lawn or cutting my hedges. All's going well, then suddenly sparks fly and the whole house is tripped out. Arghhh!!  *Magicians/illusionists/endurance artists. I've never found them particularly entertaining or intriguing - just EXTREMELY pointless and tedious. *Yawn.*  *Stinging nettles. These are good for butterflies to lay their eggs on, and may have helped the Roman armies when marching in cold climates (they supposedly thrashed themselves with them as the irritation produces a sensation of warmth upon the skin) But hell's bells they annoy me. I react quite badly to their irritant and seem to find a patch of them every day whilst walking my dog. They lie in wait disguised among the long grass awaiting the chance to lash out at my ankles and elbows. Ouch! *Silently swearing*  *Couples who wear identical clothing. What the frig is that all about? I mean, yeah, it's great when two people meet and feel totally 'as one' but do they really need to turn into clones? This just cracks me up! LMAO! ;D Plenty more where those came from........... |

Sorry but that last one made me laugh so hard my brother yelled at me to be quiet.
...I have to agree on that one. I just had a conversation with the director on my film set yesterday about that very same thing!

I'd like to banish:-
Car sat navs - which guide you to within a mile of your chosen destination then leave you stranded. I spent twenty minutes searching for a client this morning for this reason. He was in Hill Street. I was in Hill Crescent.
Traffic wardens - I was given a ticket this afternoon despite displaying a valid permit on my windscreen.
Myself - for leaving some case notes in chambers and having to drive all the way back there from home to find them.
Mondays - no further explanation needed I think!

Yes. drinksmithwicks, I think it was inspired by the room 101 featured in George Orwell's novel - 1984. Room 101 is a place where your worst nightmares can be kept. On the show celebrities nominate their pet hates and the host decides whether or not they should be banished to the imaginary room. It is quite humerous.  |

Car sat navs?
Yes. Good choice. I was dropped off in a car park just outside Amsterdam by a cabbie whose sat nav info ran out there. I had to call the friend I was visiting to come and find me. Most of them have extremely irritating 'voices' too. So yes, off to room 101 with them.....
Traffic Wardens?
You are not alone in wanting to banish them I'm sure! However they do sometimes do good - deterring hazardous parking outside my local primary school for example. Seems you were unnecessarily penalized though so let's compromise and agree to banish the incompetent ones?

This is fun!May I please banish flying bugs and balloons? Both terrify me for some strange reason. I am so feeble when I travel overseas because of abundance of 'on the wing' creatures. I just panic when anything buzzes or flaps too close to me, no matter how pretty. I nearly passed out when a friend took me to a butterfly house recently. Irrational I know but still.....  Balloons are spooky. Large quantities in a ceiling net are tricky. I spend the whole night looking up at where they sit, dreading the moment they descend and surround me. Or often they stand weighted in the centre of a table all dolled up with glitzy, 'I'm gonna scare you' ribbons, bobbing and leering at you. Then they get hot from a candle and BANG! Yuk! Air balloons? Friggin' Forget it!  Also, despite being a lily myself, I am allergic to the strong scent and pollen in some of these pretty flowers. My friend had them all around the church when she got married and I sneezed all the way through the ceremony! Just thinking about it makes me wanna.......... Aaaaaaaaaachooooooooooo! Excuse me! ;D

Lily, you are asking a bee to banish flying bugs and flowers? That's funny! ;D I really don't think I can put all flying bugs in as they are such an important part of the world's ecosystem. Perhaps we could compromise and just banish some? - species like mosquitos an tetsy flies which spread fatal diseases perhaps? And/or, if you insist, we could banish just one or two species of butterfly or moth as they seem to bother you the most? Similarly with the lilies. If it is just selected species which cause you irritation then yes, in those go. No problem.  Hot air balloon flights are pretty cool so I am loathed to banish those really. However I cannot refuse to part with them just for my own enjoyment. Party balloons are decorataive but annoying. So, OK, they're all in. Thanks for sharing your suggestions! |

Hrm...okay...well...I must say...
Parents who spoil their children to the degree that their kids think its okay to RIP things from other people hands, and then KICK if they don't get their way (And I'm talking like...8 year olds, who should just plain know better) should be banished. Or maybe just taught the error of their ways. Either way.
Spiders. Spiders are icky. I'm sure their useful but they scare the pants off of me.
Stupid drivers. Maybe not banish the person, but their ability to drive. That'd do nicely.
This is a rather serious/somber one but I'd seriously like to banish the thought structure that Teen boys seem to have where they think they can do ANYTHING and not get hurt. I'm tired of deaths and comas. You can NOT get drunk and go cliff diving. Thats all there is too it. *sigh*
On a lighter note, I'd also like to banish blisters and sun burns. Cus they just plain hurt!

Parents who spoil their kids are in. There are very few naturally bad kids in this world, they are just unfortunate in having bad parents. Stupid drivers could be banished for a spell perhaps, whilst they revise and rethink their road knowledge and sense? Blisters and sunburn are definately banished. I danced in new shoes last night and have a huge painful blister on one heel today. How can something so small be so painful?!  I cannot bring myself to banish spiders though. I know that they are hated by many but I am weird enough to love them, especially tarantulas. They are so misunderstood! Maybe I could banish their ability to enter our houses and lessen the need for you to be confronted by them? Thanks Em!  |

Oh hey! I totally though of one more Bee!
This makes me so angry that I can't stand it sometimes. The fact that it seems like all pants in the world are designed for people who are at least 5'6''. At least dress pants of the black variety. I know you can't really banish anything there, but for gods sake...its SO hard to have to try and find pants in Petite sizes because I'm only 5'3''. I have curves d**n it! I'm not a pre-teen, I can't fit into their clothes anymore! I just want womens dress pants made for SHORTER GIRLS d**n IT!!! NOT EVERYONE IN THE WORLD IS A MODEL-TASTIC HEIGHT!

Just a quick one! I would like to banish FISH!!!!
and pre-packaged food!!!
1. FISH!!!
I chose fish, firstly because I am absolutely terrified of them!!!! Don't know why but they scare me!!!! secondly I don't see the point of them they are just devils of the sea!! SCARY!!
2. PRE-PACKAGED FOOD (eg packed pre-greated cheese - pre-cut veg)
They really annoy me, I mean how long does it take to great your own cheese! or cut your own veg!!! AGHHHHHH!!! I work in a supermarket on chekouts and the people who bring them to the tills really annoy me (LAZY BEGGERS) I mean I would never ever buy them!!!
SO SEND THEM TO ROOM 101!!!!
PLEASE!!!!
FISH!!! PRE-PACKAGED FOOD!!!!

I would banish tardiness! People that consistently are late. Its just bad manners! I understand that there are accidents on the road, but someone that is consistently late and expect you to be ok about...all the time!!! ARGHHHH!!!
I also vote for stupid drivers...being surrounded by crazy, arrogant, lazy and stupid drivers..this is one for sure I would BANISH!!!!
