Who are you and how did you come to love FP? Let's all introduce ourselves. How did you find them? Your first FP live experience and what it was like? Anything you want to tell us.
I'll go first:
I first heard on the radio back in Feb/2003 that this band, Fiction Plane, which included Sting's son, Joe Sumner, had just played at a local bar in Norfolk, VA the night before. My eyes popped out of my head! What? Sting's son has a band??? And I freaking missed it?? I found out they were coming back in May to open for Lifehouse in Norfolk, VA. I brought two friends with me to check them out. There were over 10,000 people there as it was a music festival outdoors on the Norfolk harborfront. We walked down front to get a close up look and I knew right away who Joe was as the boys were setting up their equipment. As soon as they started to play, I saw the Sting come out in him. Sorry, but we all know it's true. He moves just like daddy. I was very impressed with their music and so were my two friends, although we could hear young kids in the crowd talking between songs, saying things like, "Yeah, we know you're Sting's kid. So what." We decided to purchase their cd after the gig and as luck would have it, it was Joe's turn to man the merch table. I knew even then not to mention being a fan of his pop. Joe was such a gentleman. He shook our hands, introduced himself and even took my cd from me and proceeded to unwrap it himself (he must have become a pro at this on the tour) and signed it "To Petrina" with me only spelling it for him once! That's a pure miracle ladies and gents. That right there endeared him to me more than anything. You have no idea how much I will instantly love someone who gets my name right the first time. Here's a funny FP story from that moment: As we were chit-chatting with Joe at the merch table, he started telling us how excited he was getting during their set. He said everyone seemed to like them so much that they started standing up from their lawn chairs and blankets.......until he realized people were just standing up to leave because it was starting to rain! That just cracked us up. Love the humility. Later, during the Lifehouse set, we saw Joe again, running around the crowd with a box of cd's under his arm. The best thing about my first FP experience? They were actually a freaking awesome band! The music? It speaks for itself. And it's been talkin' the talk, and walkin' the walk ever since. It's just getting better, too. I can't wait to see what they come up with next.
I've seen them:
02 May 2003 - Norfolk, VA - Town Point Park (opening for lifehouse) 27 April 2005 - Fairfax, VA - Patriot Center (opening for Sting) 22 June 2007 - Los Angeles, CA - Viper Room (headliner) 20 Jul 2007 - Hershey, PA - Hershey Park - (opening for The Police) 05 Nov 2007 - Washington, D.C. - Verizon Center - (opening for The Police) 09 Dec 2007 - Washingon, D.C. - DC9 (headliner)
...adding one more show in August, too.

I was first introduced to FP through the many fans at Sting.com back in 2003/2004. EWNBO instantly became one of my favorite CDs. Hate would allow me to rock out in the car and I loved that.
My first live FP experience came in 2005 when they opened for Sting on the Broken Music tour on the east coast. I never had the pleasure of seeing Dan in the band as he had visa issues during this tour. How excited I was to meet the boys after the Boston show. I was in awe I didn't know what to say! Managed to get my hands on Bitter Forces...and who would've thought it would be a collector's item today? A couple days later I got to see the guys again in Manchester, NH when Sting played there. During the meet and greet, Pete smiled and said, "of course I remember you! Those eyes!" SWEET! The guys also had a chuckle about me being the only one dancing during their set. I was in the 8th row for that show so had to show my support!
My first headline FP experience came just a few days later in May of 2005 when the guys played the Paradise Lounge in Boston. Was a small crowd and it seemed most were interested in watching the Sox game on TV. Joe had thought the folks were cheering for FP, but soon realized the fans were yelling at the TV. "Go Sox" was his reply. Joe knows how to rope in the Boston fans!! ;-)
Here's my gig list to date: May 5, 2005 Agganis Arena, Boston, MA (opening for Sting) May 7, 2005 Verizon Wireless Arena, Manchester, NH (opening for Sting) May 9, 2005 Paradise Lounge, Boston, MA (headline) July 27, 2007 Paradise Rock Club, Boston, MA (headline) July 28, 2007 Fenway Park, Boston, MA (opening for the Police) July 29, 2007 Fenway Park, Boston, MA (opening for the Police) October 6, 2007 Croke Park, Dublin, Ireland (opening for the Police) October 7, 2007 Whelans, Dublin, Ireland (headline) December 10, 2007 Chameleon Club, Lancaster, PA (headline) April 15, 2008 Webster Theater, Hartford CT (opening for the Bravery) May 1, 2008 Lupo's, Providence, RI (opening for the Bravery) May 2, 2008 UNH, Durham, NH (opening for Snoop Dogg)
Will be adding some France and Holland dates come December!! ;D

So my story with the boys started ....long time ago, while one day I heard ..."tired, I'm so tired" .... WOOOAAAAAWWWW I couldn't believe it??? It was so amazing, the energy, this particular sound and voice, this guitar sound... well I fell in love from the first time.... It was the SANTA's Boyfriends !!! well around 2000 ... yes, 8 great years where I haven't stop listening for the guys then they became very shortly Factory X just before becoming OUR GREAT FICTION PLANE... Swings & Roundabouts was really better and better as far as I listened to it .. then EWNBO... always in the same "esprit" but more professionnal, then the fantastic 4 tracks LP Bitter Force... whith the great "American Standard" and .... the "nirvana" LSOTB... no comment the top, all that including all tracks unreleased ...etc etc.. what was really hard was to WAIT FOR LIVE SESSIONS here in FRANCE..and then come Sting's Broken Music Tour !!!! Deliverance... and The Police Tour and well you know all that....
So I had the chance to hear the guys ... :
..during BM Tour in july 2006, then I went for an american trip to east USA and so attend Miami Gig on July 2007. The third on was in October 2007 at the Nouveau Casino Paris..... and then the Trabendo Paris in March 2008... Greatest ever one !! Last June I missed Palaiseau,FR gig but attend the soundcheck (!!), cool experience with the guys....
TO COME ...cross my finger... MONTPELLIER and PARIS next december .... [glow=red,2,300]HOPE TO SEE ALL OF YOU THERE !!![/glow]

I've seen FP for the first time when they were opening for StingĀ“s Broken music Tour in June 2006. I almost missed their show, because it was my lucky day and I was at "meet&greet" with Sting, but I have managed it all, so I had a picture with "Daddy" and got to know FP's music in one day Second time I saw them live in Amsterdam on September 14th 2007, opening for The Police in Arena. But I had to travel back home next morning, so I coudn't be at Melkweg I still regret it, 'cause it was one of their best shows. Then I was in Bull and Gate in October 2007, having little one-night trip to London with my sister. We were there soon, so we sat at the bar and had some beer, when I noticed Seton and Pete sitting near by with some other guys. So I went to them and ask them to sign my LSOTB and get a picture with them. They were so nice and friendly!! (specially Seton!) He asked for my name, and was really surprised that somebody flyes from Slovakia to London just to see their show. Then I met him outside the pub - you cannot smoke in pubs in UK.... we were talking about Sting's throat problems and cancelled gigs, and how they wanted to play at Wembley... and he thanked me few times for coming ... it was so different from all those "huuuge stars"... when I was standing in front of Sting I wasn't able to say something, was just standind there and staring at him.. my sister told me I was still in shock when I got back to her after meet&greet ;D But with these guys it's so easy to talk.. and they still appreciate their fans are coming to their shows, even recognize them - it feels so great when they tell you they remember you and they even know your name! That's one of reasons (except their music) why I love them! Hope they will stay the same when they become big stars The show was just like they wrote on their myspace profile: Bull and Gate - small and great! This small venues are the best ones. It's so different from the big stadium gigs! There were three guys talking to you, signing CDs, posing for pictures with you (one of them drinkin Guinness next to you ), and then they jump on stage and play the best show I've ever been to (one of them still drinkin Guinness ) So these were my "beginnings"... then I logged in to MySpace and found group of FP fans there. It was brand new group, I was one of first members there... and since then I'm LOST!!! hahaha I'm trying to come to every show in Europe (see the list)... It never happened to me with any band or singer (sorry, Sting!), that I would spend all my money to follow them, or to think about great coat I found in shop like - "ok, it's nice, would even look nicer on me, but it costs one FP gig!!!" So the coat stays in shop and I go to another brilliant show! LOL! I'm not going to "Welcome to the voice" in Paris in November, because of that strange thing called money, which always causes troubles . I had to think about my priorities once again and the result is I'm meeting FP fans on b-day party in London in October and I will be "on tour" in December. (sorry again, Sting!!! ;D) Now I have to wait more than 5 months till I see them again. I'm sooo jealous you have them whole summer in USA - even if it's support and just few headlines... Here's my list of FP shows: 21/06/2006 Bratislava, Slovakia (opening for Sting) 14/09/2007 Arena, Amsterdam (opening for The Police) 12/10/2007 Bull&Gate, London, UK 19/12/2007 Tivoli, Utrecht, Holland 20/12/2007 Paradiso, Amsterdam, Holland 15/3/2008 Monto Water Rats, London, UK 23/03/2008 Paard van Troje, Den Haag, Holland 27/3/2008 Le Trabendo, Paris, France 31/05/2008 Papillons de Nuit, France (festival) 03/06/2008 Le 112, Terville, France 04/06/2008 La Laiterie, Strasbourg, France 05/06/2008 Hafenkneipe, Zurich, Switzerland 07/06/2008 Point Gamma, Palaiseau, France + hope to add all European December dates!!!

I'm Barbara and here's my story. First heard Sting mention Santa's Boyfriend and wondered...who is that? Never got to hear them under that name. Found out Sting's son's band was opening for him at Wilkes Barre during Broken Music to which I had a ticket (yes A ticket, none of my local friends are big music fans). Stood a while and listened to them while drinking a beer. I'm ashamed to say I didn't think alot of them then. My only excuse is that Seton wasn't there. When I found out FP was opening for The Police, I was very excited to give them a serious listen. Had already heard Two Sisters and was excited to sit close to the stage. I bought LSOTB and during there final number headed back to their table to get it signed. The place was packed even though most of the fans didn't know who Joe was. They were so gracious, even got a hug from Joe. Came home and listened to the CD about a hundred times and couldn't wait to see them again! Been hooked ever since. My list: July 07 Hershey Police tour (bought LSOTB and got it signed) Aug 07 New Jersey Police tour Dec 07 OC, MD HEADLINE (bought EWNBO and got it signed) Dec 07 Philly HEADLINE April 08 Lancaster w/The Bravery (was there to hear FP) April 08 Allentown w/The Bravery (didn't even hear The Brav, was talking to Pete and Seton) Soon to come: July 08 OC,MD HEADLINE (will buy another EWNBO and get it signed cuz my son has my other one) Love, love, love Fiction Plane!!! Would love to hear an IMM gig!

First saw Fiction Plane at the Bospop festival in the Netherlands, in 2006. They were opening for Sting. I had never heard of them before, but I really liked their music. Around June last year, I heard Two Sisters on the radio and found out it was by the same band I enjoyed so much at the Bospop festival a year earlier! I had to wait to see them live again until December that year, but have added a few more shows since. I've met several really great FP fans through MySpace, and they make the FP-experience even better! I have been able to chat with the guys after every show I've been to (except for the first one in 2006), and they are so incredibly friendly. It's so great to be greeted at the meet&greets with hugs and 'Thank you for coming AGAIN!' My list: - Early July 2006 - Bospop Festival - Weert, the Netherlands - Dec. 19th 2007 - Tivoli - Utrecht, the Netherlands - Dec. 20th 2007 - Paradiso - Amsterdam, the Netherlands - March 22nd 2008 - Paaspop Festival - Schijndel, the Netherlands (small accoustic gig and full gig at the main stage) - March 23rd 2008 - Paard van Troje - Den Haag, the Netherlands - June 1st 2008 - Pinkpop Festival - Landgraaf, the Netherlands Coming up shows: Lille and Amsterdam

I came by them via Sting.com and bought EWNBO in '04. I first saw them live when they opened for Sting at Bospop in'06. I'm so pleased to have heard Dan with the band and those wonderful songs from Bitter Forces. LSOTB took it to an entire different level for me. I rarely love a cd from first play but this one was one of the few exceptions. I've seen them: Bospop Weert, NL July 7, 2006 Plaza Club Vancouver May 26, 2007 GM Place Vancouver May 28 & 30, 2007 ACC Toronto July 22 & 23, Nov. 7 & 8, 2007 El Mocambo Toronto Nov. 10, 2007 Nothing compares to these boys live in a small venue. Breathtaking. Nice to meet you Kty (from Sting.com?), Kinga and Muis26. Foo & Nic I already know. Hi gals!

I was introduced to FP through the Broken Music Tour. I had never heard of them before that, but when we got to the show, everything changed. This group of young men get up on stage, I am looking around at how sparse the venue was, while my fiancee was reading Broken Music.
All of the sudden, the singer drops the "F Bomb" a couple times and we both look up and take instant notice. I'll never forget hearing "Listen To My Babe" there for the first time.
By the time Irving Plaza rolled around, I was completely hooked.
I'm a little embarrassed to post this, but since then, I've become something of a live FP junkie. I'm planning to hit 3 Unity dates and 3 headline dates this summer.
Here's my tour 'itinerary':
02 May 2005 Sovereign Center, Reading, PA (Broken Music Tour) 14 May 2005 Irving Plaza, New York, NY (Broken Music Fanclub show) 20 Jul 2007 Hersheypark Stadium, Hershey, PA (with The Police) 27 Jul 2007 Paradise Rock Club, Boston, MA 02 Aug 2007 The Bowery Ballroom, New York, NY 03 Aug 2007 Madison Square Garden, New York, NY (with The Police) 05 Aug 2007 Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ (with The Police) 01 Nov 2007 Pianos, New York, NY (acoustic show) 10 Nov 2007 El Mocambo, Toronto, ON 07 Dec 2007 Seacrets, Ocean City, MD 08 Dec 2007 The Khyber Pass Pub, Philadelphia, PA 09 Dec 2007 DC 9, Washington, DC 10 Dec 2007 Chameleon Club, Lancaster, PA 14 Apr 2008 Chameleon Club, Lancaster, PA (with The Bravery) 26 Apr 2008 Agora Ballroom, Cleveland, OH 27 Apr 2008 Crocodile Rock, Allentown, PA (with The Bravery) 29 Apr 2008 The Chance, Poughkeepsie, NY (with The Bravery) 03 May 2008 Bamboozle Festival, East Rutherford, NJ

How does a Canadian get to the Bospop festival?! A Canadian gets to Bospop by deciding to celebrate her 50th birthday by flying to wherever Sting is playing on that date. It happened to be Bospop. I am eternally grateful to Sting for introducing me to Holland because I had a life changing experience, fell in love with the country and the people I met there. I could live in Amsterdam in a NY minute. ;D

hi all! so sorry, but I don't have a huge story like all of you- -all of the stories are so exciting! it is so great to see a group of guys so down to earth. sad to say, here in Austin, there is no radio station that play their music- -don't get it, but the first time I heard them was at the Police show in Houston last year(exactly one year ago can't believe it!) and to be honest, at the time I was in the nosebleed section- - and for some reason, the sound wasn't so good, but I could tell that they had potential. I then saw them again in San Antonio in November opening again for the Police, and I don't know what it was, but they were on FIRE that nite, and I danced like a banshee! I didn't go meet them afterward, because I was too shy and wasn't sure if I would be able to speak- -but I have heard that they are sooo nice and now am kicking myself for not doing it. hopefully, I will get to meet them when they come to Austin. heres my shows: 6-29-07 Houston TX 11-07 San Antonio TX future shows: 8-3-08 Austin TX -supporting show (hope they have an extra show in a club as headliner in Austin) (wish I could go to the show on 8-2 but will be out of town on Saturday and won't get back till Sunday, just in time to go to show!)
