My house looked like a war zone this morning, with what looked like dead bodies strewn everywhere. They were in fact just tired friends, crashed out in beds and sleeping bags, recovering from a ten mile memory walk yesterday, followed by a few beers. Lots of sore feet and heads today! Joking aside, I'd like to express a MASSIVE thank you to all who took part, and those who sponsored us all. It was especially heart rendering to have Alzheimer's sufferers and their carers join us in the last couple of miles. We must yet collect the cash promised to us but I estimate it will be in the region of £1000.00 for the AA/AS. ;D Wonderful! BTW... World Alzheimer's day is September 21st. Please spare a thought for sufferers and their families on this day and support one of the Alzheimer's charities in some small way if you are able.

I bought the violet Doc Martens in a sale and painted the flowers on myself to personalise them.

Francesca and I ran rainforest workshops in a school today and raised £150.00 for RFF. Thanks for your help Chessie. Good luck to Lily, Jez, Eaglealan, Saxman and my pal Conor for the Great North Run this coming weekend. I'll be there to cheer you all on. ;D

I watched the Great North Run on TV today and thought of our runners. Did you all finish OK?
Bee, I was wondering about doing a can-shake on Halloween. I know you've done lots of collections before, so what are the official do's and don'ts please? What do you think of the idea?

I know you've done lots of collections before, so what are the official do's and don'ts please? What do you think of the idea? I am happy to report that Lily, Jez, Eaglealan, Saxman, Conor and new recruit Matt all completed the run in style. Matt was the fastest across the line in just 1hr 40mins. Way to go Matt!! Did anyone receive a good luck high-five from Sting at the start? Congrats to you all!!! ;D I think the Halloween can-shake is a great idea! The first thing to do is contact the chosen charity and ask them to kindly send you some official collection cans or labels that an be attached to buckets. Also a letter of confirmation showing their permission for you to represent them and showing the charity emblem and registration number. This ensures that those donating know that you are genuine. It is against the law in England to can-shake in the street or any public place unless you have a license, or in a privately owned venue without the owner's permission. So, I usually map out a preferred route which includes all my favoured pubs, clubs, restaurants etc and contact all the owners for permission in advance. This allows you to ensure that you arrive at each place when mutually convenient and hopefully the most profitable! Hope that's of use. If you need volunteers to help collect then just ask. The team are usually up for almost anything!

I just had a call from a friend who works as a tour guide at Stokesay Court, the private house and country estate in Shropshire where the film 'Atonement' was shot. He has been given the go ahead to take FP Fundraisers on a tour of the whole place free of charge. So, we could invite some friends to join us in return for donations to one of our charities. We could have afternoon tea in the house too for a small charge. I have been to the estate and can say that it is very beautiful indeed, well worth an FPF viewing. Will be in touch with an October date for your diaries.

I heard that the TV coverage was good. Happy to know you were routing for us. I enjoyed the race. The weather was lovely and I met some great people. It is really emotional to see so many (about 40,000 runners I think) all gathering together to raise money for so many worthy charities. There's always a great sense of camaraderie at these events. Once I've collected in the last of my sponsorship money I'll be able to donate £1310.00 for Alzheimer's Society. Violetvixen, I'd be happy to shake a can with you! ;D

Is that fountain they shot Keira knightly in a permanent feature or was it there just for the movie? BTW... I'm working on a charity fashion show for November.

The fountain is an original, a permanent and much loved focal point of the gardens. I expect you will be able to splash around in it yourself if you wish! I have booked us in for the tour on 11th October. A fashion show? What a great idea! ;D

The footy tournament was enjoyably successful. We made a profit of £2,787,which I rounded off to £3000. As the tournament was played as a tribute to Sir Bobby Robson the cash has been donated to Cancer Research UK.
Monetry reward for my effort in the Great North Run amounts to £2015. I'll be forwarding this to Alzheimer's Society.
I've put some feelers out re a badminton tournament next.
